WHAT ARE SEDIMENTS?

Where water does not move or flow, small particles (soil, sand or stones) suspended in the water sink to the bottom. These deposits are called sediments. And if such sediments are left for a very, very long time and are pressed together firmly, they can become as solid as stone.
